RustDesk is a remote support tool similar to TeamViewer or LogMeIn.

There are two forms of the RustDesk remote support client app, Portable and Installed with different benefits.
  • Portable
    • No installation required
    • Limited features
    • Ad hoc support (support on demand)
    • Does not handle UAC (admin permissions) properly
  • Installed
    • Normal app installation
    • Requires admin permissions to install
    • Optionally runs as a service for unattended remote support
    • Handles UAC properly
    • Recommended

:!: Remote computers must be turned on, and awake to be accessible.

:!: Install the client app on Windows computers to avoid problems with UAC, rather than use the portable version.

:!: Show Remote Cursor is a useful feature when providing remote support!

Portable

Download and execute (run or double-click) the portable app.

This Windows portable RustDesk app is pre-configured. Just run it and call us for remote support!

Portable First Run

Normal Install

Download and execute (run or double-click) the portable app, then click Install.

  • You will be prompted for admin permission or credentials
  • Give admin permission to modify firewall if necessary
  • Configure RustDesk server and public encryption key
