Transferring Calls

:!: There are different names for the following transfer methods, but most phone and most PBXs act in a very similar fashion.

:!: These are fairly generic instructions that will generally work with most IP phones and Asterisk-based PBXs.

:!: Generally, you do not put the caller on hold during transfers.

There are three common transfer types:

  1. Blind Transfer
    • Transfer the current caller to another extension without announcing the call first
    • This is the most common type of transfer
  2. Attended Transfer
    • Transfer the current caller to another extension announcing the call first
  3. Transfer Directly to Voicemail
    • Transfer the current caller directly to another extension's voicemail mailbox

  1. Answer an incoming call
  2. Press the transfer soft key
  3. Enter *100 as the destination extension number
  4. Press the transfer soft key again to complete the transfer
  5. The caller will hear extension 100's Unavailable greeting and can leave a message
