Transferring Calls

:!: There are different names for the following transfer methods, but most phone and most PBXs act in a very similar fashion.

There are three common transfer types:

  1. Blind Transfer
    • Transfer the current caller to another extension without announcing the call first
    • This is the most common type of transfer
  2. Attended Transfer
    • Transfer the current caller to another extension announcing the call first
  3. Transfer Directly to Voicemail
    • Transfer the current caller directly to another extension's voicemail mailbox

Blind Transfers

:!: Do not put the caller on hold during a blind transfer.

  1. Answer an incoming call
  2. Press the transfer soft key
  3. Enter the destination extension number
  4. Press the transfer soft key again to complete the transfer

Attended Transfers

Answer an incoming call Place the call on hold Call the user you would like to transfer the call to

  Press the “Send” soft key.
  The transfer recipient answers and accepts to take the call.
  Press the “Tran” soft key.

  Select the caller you wish to transfer the call to using the arrows and press “OK“.
  The original caller and the transfer receipient are now connected.
