CloneZilla Image Utility

Restore to Smaller Hard Drive

Create the Too Large Image

  • On PC with too large of drive, open Disk Management in Windows 10/8/7. If you are running Linux system, you can boot your computer from GParted media.
  • Right click the source partition and click “Shrink Volume” and follow the wizard to shrink the partition.
  • Shrink the partition to something substantially smaller than you think you need
  • Reboot to CloneZilla
  • Select working with images
  • Create the image using Beginner

Restore to Smaller Drive

  • Boot to CloneZilla with smaller drive
  • Choose working with images
  • Choose Advanced
  • Choose Restore image
  • In advanced options tick icds this disables checking destination disk size
  • Continue with the wizard leaving the default options
  • After imaged on the small drive expand the partition to use entire drive

<Note tip> I suggest after successfully creating the smaller drive image re-save to avoid it being necessary to go through this procedure again. <Note/>
