Microsoft OneDrive for Business

Login and Configuration: https://portal.office.com

OneDrive for Business sync apps: https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/download/

:!: The one advantage I see to OneDrive for Business is that it can be used on (RDS) Windows Servers with multiple users.

Service Setup

  1. Log in with an administrative account
    • Office365
    • OneDrive for Business
    • 30-day trial accounts available
  2. Click Admin
  3. Click Setup
    • Configure your domain
    • Configure your DNS
  4. Complete the basic setup
  5. Add users

PC or Server Setup

:!: Surprise! It doesn't seem to like Firefox much. Use IE at least for the setup phase.

:!: You must allow popups.

:!: Install the app even if it was installed previously with Microsoft Office.

  1. Log in
  2. Click OneDrive
  3. Click Sync
  4. Install the OneDrive for Business sync app

OneDrive Library URL

User Setup

:!: On RDS servers especially, be careful about where the local sync folder is located. You do not want to fill the system disk and crash your server!

  1. Log in
  2. Click OneDrive
  3. Copy the URL from the browser
  4. Open the OneDrive for Business app
    • If not previously configured, you will be prompted to enter a library URL
  5. Paste the URL you copied from the browser
  6. Change the local folder location as needed
    1. The default is probably OK for a standalone PC
    2. You must use a local volume (no network drives)
  7. Enter your OneDrive for Business credentials
  8. Choose Work for OneDrive for Business account
    • OneDrive and OneDrive for Business are not the same
  9. Sync the local folder
