:!: Parallels RAS Universal Printing redirects the default printer settings from the client side to the remote session, so users should configure them locally first.

:!: Settings changed in the remote session won't save after signing off; it's the expected behavior for RAS UP (universal printing).

:!: Printing is complicated and issues are frequently fixed in newer versions of RAS and RAS clients. It is recommended to upgrade your farm and clients to the most up to date version.

The choice of printing options available in the remote session depends on settings of the Parallels Client.

Open the Connection Properties, switch to the Printing tab, press Options and switch to Use client preferences for all printers. You can manage this option centrally using the Policies tab of RAS Console.

Steps to Address Universal Printing Issues

At RAS server:

  1. Upgrade Parallels RAS on your server to the latest version
  2. Modify the Connection Policy for RAS UP to use client-side printer settings

At client workstations:

  1. Sign out of any RAS sessions
  2. Install Windows Updates on client workstation and reboot
  3. Update RAS Client on client workstation to latest
  4. Set desired Windows default printer on workstation
  5. Configure default printing preferences on workstation
  6. Connect a RAS session
  7. Verify that the default printer settings are mirrored in remote sessions
