====== Zimbra - Route Incoming Mail to Folder ====== See also **[[quick_guide:zimbra_white_black|Zimbra Whitelist or Blacklist Senders]]** This is an example of how to automatically route specific incoming messages into a particular folder. The **basic intent** is to: - **Tidy** up your Inbox - Handle **repetitive messages** automatically - Keep repetitive messages **visible** This fairly **common example**: - Assumes you have an alias address in addition to your primary e-mail address - Assumes you wish for messages addressed to the alias address to flow automatically into a particular folder :!: In general, we don't usually create mail folders **directly under the Inbox folder**. However, you might consider doing so when creating folders for **routing mail addressed to alias e-mail addresses**. ===== Zimbra Web Client ===== **ZWC -> Preferences -> Filters -> Create Filter** {{ :quick_guide:zimbra_filter_1.png?750 |Zimbra Preferences}} {{ :quick_guide:zimbra_filter_2_add.png?600 |Add a Mail Processing Filter}} {{ :quick_guide:zimbra_filter_3_optionally_create_folder.png?300|Optionally Create a New Destination Folder for Filtered Messages}} {{:quick_guide:zimbra_filter_5_run_filter_on_inbox_folder.png?300|We Filter Messages Flowing Into Inbox}} {{ :quick_guide:zimbra_filter_6_running_filter.png?300|The Running Filter}} {{:quick_guide:zimbra_filter_4_optionally_run_filter.png?300|Run the New Filter}} ==== Incoming Message Notification ==== Generally, in most mail clients, messages arriving into a folder other than Inbox will not generate a notification or alert that a new message has arrived. Often, with processing rules (filters), we often don't care to be notified of new messages in the folder...but sometimes you might. In Zimbra, it's easy to set an e-mail address for notifications. If you use an **SMS gateway e-mail address** as the destination, you'll be **notified of new e-mails via SMS text messages**. **ZWC -> Preferences -> Mail -> Receiving Messages -> Message Arrival** {{ :quick_guide:zimbra_filter_7_notification_options.png?750 |Additional New Message Notification Options}}
