**RustDesk is a remote support tool** similar to TeamViewer or LogMeIn.

<note tip>There are two forms of the RustDesk remote support client app, **Portable** and **Installed** with different benefits.</note>

  * **Portable**
    * **No installation** required
    * Limited features
    * Ad hoc support (support on demand)
    * Does not handle UAC (admin permissions) properly
  * **Installed**
    * Normal app installation
    * Requires admin permissions to install
    * Optionally runs as a service for **unattended remote support**
    * Handles UAC properly
    * **Recommended**

Download and execute (run or double-click) the portable app.

  * Give admin permission to modify firewall if necessary
  * Configure RustDesk server and public encryption key
